Workshop Registration Open

Registration NOW open for a hands-on, make & take workshop focused on Learning Centers in the Garden. Large groups can be challenging to manage in the garden, but dividing student into small groups and rotating among centers is a favorite classroom management strategy that encourages exploration and critical thinking skills. **February 19, 9am-3pm at NC Cooperative Extension Center – Iredell County, in Statesville.** **Register here by February 5.**

The NC State University School Garden Summer Institute invites educators, school garden advocates, and garden-based learning enthusiasts to join us in Salisbury, NC, at Catawba College for the 2025 School Garden Summer Institute on June 23-24. Registration will open in February.

Grow Microgreens

Microgreens are packed with phytonutrients that can boost the function and flavor of smoothies, sandwiches, pizza, pasta or even tacos. From seed to harvest is only 1-2 weeks. Directions are easy for students (and staff).

Seed Packet SEL

The “Flourish Me” worksheet allows students to build self-awareness by illustrating what conditions allow them to thrive as they grow and develop. Students will recognize that they likely flourish under different conditions than their peers, though we all have minimum needs that must be met.

Scientist for a Day Returns

After a two year hiatus due to COVID restrictions, science-enthused students from Kannapolis City Schools were welcomed into the STEM training lab for a day of Hands-on experiments. They learned about the research happening in their hometown and the career potential at the NC Research Campus.

At the Plants for Human Health Institute, we love science! We observe and hypothesize; we collect and analyze data (sometimes even BIG data), and we draw conclusions that help us understand the complexities of our biological world. The research conducted here covers a diverse array of disciplines that you can explore more on our PHHI website. In the training lab, we offer hands-on experiences that provide an introduction to our research and a connection to the type of work that’s happening in our labs.
