Equipping teachers to integrate curriculum standards in the edible classroom and improving community nutrition through fresh produce.

Online Course Now Available!

Next offering starts February 15, 2024

Registration is now open for Building Gardens, Building Minds, an online course to support teachers and school garden professionals. Amy Bowman and Doug Vernon have delivered workshops across the country and participants love the actionable take-aways that are the hallmark of their presentations.

Even through the online platform, you’ll be engaged with videos and interactive features throughout each of the 12 asynchronous modules. In addition to the online modules, the course includes 2 synchronous Zoom meetings that will offer a check-in where the course cohort will come together for discussion and sharing. The course will conclude with a capstone in-person workshop at a school garden. A school garden t-shirt, included with the course, will be lasting reminder that, “not all classrooms have four walls.”

Whether you’re exploring the possibility of a garden, ready to establish a garden or eager to take your garden potential to the next level, this course is for you!

Visit the STEM Training Lab

At the Plants for Human Health Institute, we love science! We observe and hypothesize; we collect and analyze data (sometimes even BIG data), and we draw conclusions that help us understand the complexities of our biological world. The research conducted here covers a diverse array of disciplines that you can explore more on our PHHI website. In the training lab, we offer hands-on experiences that provide an introduction to our research and a connection to the type of work that’s happening in our labs.

Review the Training Lab Activity Menu to see if your group may benefit from a day in the lab.
